While one of WHO's main strategies is to train more health professionals and to find ways to retain existing personnel, it may still take many years before results appear. Meanwhile, some countries have chosen to delegate certain health tasks to people who have some training, but who have no formal health care expertise.
The LayVac-project aims to collect and systematize existing research-based knowledge about the effects of such measures, the factors that may affect the effectiveness and feasibility of such measures and the cost of such measures.
This work will be published in four systematic reviews. The LayVac-project pay special attention to the role lay people can play in vaccination programs.
